The motionless images are deliberate syntheses condensing in a two-dimensional frame a temporal perspective. This visual construction of memory is produced by a constant and deliberate work of synthesis performed by our consciousness and our dreams. With this work, we are able to orient ourselves in the chaotic stream of our experience. This fundamental dimension of our existence is represented in the theme as well as in the manner of Vodanovic’s works.

Exhibitions

2012: Still Life, Gevik Gallery, Hazelton Avenue, Toronto
2011: Solo, Unfolding time, Galerie Valentin, Montréal
2010: Rideau Hall, Ottawa
2010: Lachine Cultural Center, L’Entrepôt
2009-2010: Galerie Vincent, Ottawa
2009-2010: Galerie Balzac, Toronto
2009: Croatian Embassy, Ottawa
2007: Solo, Galerie Valentin, Montréal
2000-2012: The artist’s choice, Galerie Valentin, Montréal
2006: Flora, Marc-Aurèle Fortin museum, Montréal
2006: Websters Galleries, Calgary
2004: Solo, Galerie Valentin, Montréal
1998-2012: Miniatures, Galerie Valentin, Montréal
2003: Solo, Marc-Aurèle Fortin Museum, Montréal
2002: Bar kao inspiracija umjetnika, Bar museum, Montenegro
2001-2012: Galerie Yvon Desgagnés, Baie-Saint-Paul
1999: Autoportraits, Galerie Valentin, Montréal
1999: Solo, Municipal Gallery, Kirkland
1998: Solo, Municipal Gallery, Beaconsfield
1997: Three Owls Studio & Gallery, Vankleek Hill, Ontario
1996: Wilder & Davis Gallery, Montréal
1994: Altérité, Maison de la Culture Côte-des-Neiges, Montréal
1994: Solo, Thomson House, McGill University, Montréal
1994: Collage, Galerie W, Complexe du Canal Lachine
1993: Solo, VAV Gallery, Concordia University, Montréal
1990: Solo, Bar, Cetinje et Vleinj, city museums, Monténegro

Born in Split, Croatia in 1968, Maja Vodanovic moved to Montreal at the age of eight.
